Principal’s message

“I never teach my pupils, I only provide the conditions in which they can learn.”
(Albert Einstein)

In this fast –paced world with things around us changing drastically, it is important to take some time to pause and reflect. The aim of imparting knowledge is to empower individual to embrace the shifting scenario and face the challenges that lie ahead. The emergence of social media has introduced new and complex challenges. We live in an era where society is becoming dominated by a variety of technological innovations and inventions. Students are more digitally exposed than ever before. The internet offers incredible opportunities for learning, creativity and connections, but it also comes with risks and we must guide our children to navigate them. On one hand internet has made the world accessible to everyone, on the other hand it has destroyed many lives. With social media, online gaming, AI and instant access to information, students must be aware of cyber safety and responsible online behaviour. It is natural that the children will be attracted and tempted to the ever-expansive possibilities, but they must be very careful while browsing the internet. Misinformation and screen addiction are real challenges that can negatively affect children’s physical and mental health that can lead to poor academic performance, distractions, reduce face to face interactions, stress, anxiety, decrease in sleep, insomnia and other issues as well. Let’s embrace technology wisely and make the digital world, a place for learning, innovation and positive connection. The digital world, a world full of possibilities is awaiting for us to make the right use of it. It is a powerful tool, but only if we use it wisely.

Our Lady Queen of the Missions School is an Anglo Indian School founded 79 years ago. We provide 21st century learning facilities, which enhances self-learning. We offer digital online E-learning platform for students to learn at their own comfort whenever they wish to learn no matter where they are. It is time for us to make learning a happy experience in school and at home school. The teachers become their mentors who help children to construct their own learning by providing an atmosphere, which encourages learning in their own Context, Creativity, Communication, Critical thinking and Collaboration. Coding is the buzzword of the day. We offer the facility of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics (STEAM) integrated experiential and research based learning for our children.

The Moto of our school is Virtue and Knowledge. The literal meaning of virtue is- specific manifestation of moral excellence or behaviour showing high moral standards. In a QMS’er the society should experience these characteristics at par excellence. The Foundress, of the institute of the SISTERS OF OUR LADY OF THE MISSIONS, Euphrasie Barbier wrote in one of her letters emphasising the importance of character building that our girls must become valiant women to serve the world and the humanity with a difference. Every QMS’er who passed through the portals of this Institution are expected to possess the nobility of character.

Our present Superior General Sr. Josephine Kane quoted the famous Greek philosopher Socrates in one of her messages- "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” In this united endeavour of kindling the flames for the 21st century achievers, we wish good luck to our children and their mentors. Let us become carriers of peace in the midst of brokenness and justice for all forms of life as we walk humbly with our God on this planet. Let the banner of QMS fly high.
